Plan the destination lane before turning

At an intersection with more than one turn lane, neighbouring vehicles may turn at the same time. Know which receiving lane belongs to your path before entering the turn so you do not drift into another driver's lane.

Track the turning guide line

Notice which side of your car the dotted guide line is on and keep that relationship throughout the turn. This reference helps maintain separation from the adjacent turning vehicle.

Read lane alignment when markings are faded

If the guide line is difficult to see, inspect the receiving lanes while waiting and identify your lane's continuation. Follow signs and lane guidance; do not turn into whichever lane happens to look convenient.
