Check all around immediately before moving

Before a backing or parking manoeuvre, turn and check both sides and the surrounding area. A quick sideways glance is not the same as seeing the blind spots. Hazards may have arrived since your earlier check.

Then look directly in the direction of travel

The 360 check comes before movement; rearward observation continues during reversing. Once the surroundings are clear, turn to look back and keep monitoring the path, using mirrors and the camera as additional information.
