Video breakdown

Study the lesson by section

Each section below follows an explanation or demonstration in the video. Select a section to play from that point, then practise the skill with appropriate supervision.

0:23

Plan to yield to both pedestrians and oncoming traffic

The driver sees pedestrians and an opposing vehicle before green. Enter only an appropriate waiting position when permitted, keeping pedestrian routes clear. The opposing right-turning vehicle still needs to complete its movement; do not creep forward simply because it is also waiting.

1:39

Clear safely after yellow without pressuring pedestrians

The light changes while the turn is already underway. Keep watching the oncoming side and the pedestrian crossing, and clear when the path is safe. A changing signal never requires driving through a pedestrian’s path to hurry out.

2:07

Correct a turn that starts too sharply or too early

The student steers toward the opposing lane before correcting. The replay links this to excessive steering and the point where the turn began. Practise a smoother path into the correct lane, adding steering as needed instead of cutting the corner.
