Read the other approaches before reaching your stop

This Victoria example has stop signs for the motor-vehicle approaches and a separate bicycle route. Look for the controls facing each approach as you arrive; do not infer the whole layout from the plate below your own stop sign alone.

1:10

Account for the cyclist’s path through the conflict area

The green bicycle marking highlights a shared conflict area. A right turn must not cut across a cyclist beside or approaching you. Determine the vehicle stopping order while also checking the bicycle path independently.

2:38

Apply the stopping order to the actual intended movement

For the left-turn example, identify which stopped vehicle is next while still checking the full turn path. Repeated creeping without understanding the controls confuses other drivers. Approach early enough to recognize the arrangement and proceed when it is your turn and safe.
