Video breakdown

Study the lesson by section

Each section below follows an explanation or demonstration in the video. Select a section to play from that point, then practise the skill with appropriate supervision.

0:01

Remain stopped when the destination is a two-way road

A red light does not permit starting a left turn onto a two-way street. Stay at the required stopping position until a signal allows movement, then reassess oncoming traffic, pedestrians and any protected arrow. Do not inch into a waiting position on red.

1:13

Understand the one-way exception without assuming a safe view

BC permits a left turn on red into a one-way street in the permitted direction after a full stop, unless prohibited, and only after yielding. Buildings may block the view. If you cannot confirm a safe path, wait rather than attempting the optional turn.
