Video breakdown

Study the lesson by section

Each section below follows an explanation or demonstration in the video. Select a section to play from that point, then practise the skill with appropriate supervision.

0:00

Signal, slow and align beside the reference car

The driver approaches parallel with the parked taxi and uses its tail light as a setup cue. Reference points depend on your vehicle, seat position and spacing; learn suitable ones rather than copying the window cue blindly.

0:23

Check all around and create the initial angle slowly

After selecting reverse and steering right, the driver performs the 360 check and looks back while moving at walking pace. The approximate 30-degree angle is a teaching reference; clearance and observation remain the priority.

0:48

Straighten and reassess the next steering point

The wheel returns to centre and the car backs straight with another surroundings check. Watch the car’s actual position and curb clearance as the reference light moves in the window.

1:05

Add small steering corrections and finish parallel

The driver adds left steering in stages, pauses to evaluate and keeps checking rear and side views. Once parallel, straighten the wheel and confirm room from the car ahead and curb before securing the park.
